PUBLIC NOTICE

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

FOR

Design engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning

&  trial  run  of  Desulphurization  Plant, on  Turnkey  basis   at

Pakistan Steel, Bin Qasim, Karachi, Pakistan

 

            Pakistan Steel invites offers for above work from eligible foreign firms or through their local agent, if any, in Pakistan. Pakistani firms who are eligible to handle the above mentioned project and registered with Pakistan Engineering Council in the “No Limit” category may also participate in EOI.Proof of experience is prerequisite.  

            To facilitate use of indigenous iron ore, which is high in Sulphur content, Pakistan Steel envisages to set up a Desulphurization Plant at an appropriate place along the railway line for transportation of hot metal, in Ladles from its Blast Furnaces to 1300 Tons Steel Mixer located at its Steel Making Department (SMD). The required Desulphurization Plant should cope with the production of 1.5 million tons/year of crude steel. The requirement for the Desulphurization Plant would be as under:

 

Content of Sulphur at BF out put                        0.08 – 0.10 %

Content of Sulphur at Converter input                0.015 – 0.02 %

            Interested firms should submit all relevant information with EOI: 

  • The last date for submission of Expression of Interest (EOI) is 04 weeks from publication.
  • EOI received after the above deadline shall not be accepted and would be returned unopened. Telegraph/Telex/Fax EOI(s) shall not be accepted.

  • Those firms which are qualified by Pakistan Steel against their EOIs will be informed by ECD as eligible for obtaining tender documents on payment of non-refundable fee of Rs. 2500/- or equivalent US Dollar in shape of pay order in favour of Pakistan Steel.
  • Pakistan Steel reserves the right to accept or reject any or all EOI(s) as per PPRA rules and the right for extension in its date.

Pakistan Steel mills is an integrated iron and steel plant which was established with the techno-economic collaboration of the former USSR with a designed capacity of 1.1 million tons per year (mtpy) of crude steel. It came into operation in phases during the period 1981-85.
