LOCAL PROCUREMENT IRON ORE DEPARTMENT
MANGANESE ORE
Pakistan
Steel is the largest integrated steel making plant in Pakistan, with production
capacity of 1.1 million ton per annum of steel. To achieve above production
level Pakistan Steel requires about 20,000 tons of prime quality Manganese Ore annually.
Till year 2006 Pakistan Steel was importing of its required iron ore.
In
the year 2008 Pakistan Steel management decided, in the greater interests of
Pakistan, to promote and develop the indigenous resources and gradually
increase it’s share, till complete replacement of imported Manganese Ore.
The
indigenization of minerals is inline with the policies of Government of
Pakistan and instructions of ministry of production. The objective of which is
to promote the local industry and exploration of minerals, with a view to
create job opportunities, up lift of remote areas, save precious foreign
exchange and achieve self reliance. Besides
playing its leading roll in the national economy by Encouraging, Promoting
and patronizing the local mine owners and suppliers of Manganese Ore.
Pakistan
Steel is encouraging the local mine owners and suppliers by providing them
level playing field, lenient, open and transparent procurement policy.
MANGANESE
ORE REQUIREMENT:
Pakistan
Steel requires about 20,000 MTN of Manganese ore per year to achieve 80%
production level, with following breakup;
LUMP MANGANESE ORE 500 MTN per year
FINE MANGANESE ORE 20,000 MTN per year
The
specifications, tolerances, absolute limits, price slabs, of both lump and fine
Manganese ore are listed in the draft contract.
HOW
TO GET THE SUPPLY CONTRACT:
Pakistan
Steel has introduced a very lenient, open and transparent procurement policy
for procurement of local Manganese ore, with a view to develop the local mining
of Manganese Ore. The intending mine owner or supplier has to provide the
following documents duly attested by notary public, along with company letter
head for 200 MTN “TRIAL ORDER” to get the supply contract;

Mine
lease documents in case of mine lease holder.

In
case of supplier, mine lease documents along with authorization from the mine
owner on Rs. 100 stamp paper.

National
Tax Number Certificate (NTN).

General
Sales Tax Registration Certificate (GST).
|
v
|
Professional
Tax Registration Certificate.
|
vi
|
Quality
certificate from any renowned laboratory.

|
Photo
copies of CNICs of mine lease holder and applicant.

|
Bank
certificate in the name of the company.
|
Once
the supplier has completed the requisite documents the mine owner / supplier
will be issued “Letter of Confirmation” for 200 MTN “TRIAL ORDER”. On
successful completion of “TRIAL ORDER” the party will be entitled for
subsequent contracts of higher quantities
